2024 China-Europe SMEs Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum

In order to continuously improve the international service level of Shanghai’s SMEs, further improve the ‘bringing in’ and ‘going out’, and help more SMEs release their innovative vitality, Shanghai SME Development Service Centre, together with China Construction Engineering Corporation (CCECC), has been working on the development of SMEs in Shanghai. Shanghai SME Development Service Centre, together with China Construction Bank Corporation Shanghai Branch, China-Italy Innovation Centre, China European Economic and Technical Cooperation Association, Donghao Lansheng Exhibition Group, UK Government of Wales Shanghai Office, Confederation of Danish Industries, Shanghai Creative City Technology Development Co. Ltd. jointly launched the ‘Eco-Partnership Action Plan for Internationalisation Services for Specialised, Specialised and New SMEs’. This initiative aims to help high-quality SMEs with specialised expertise to further develop international markets and seize global development opportunities.

On the afternoon of 25th September, the ‘2024 Sino-European SMEs Innovation Cooperation and Development Exchange Event’ was successfully held on the site of the 24th China International Industry Fair (CIIF). With the theme of ‘New World, Creative Future’, the event was jointly held by Shanghai Municipal Coordination Office for SME Development, Shanghai SME Development Service Centre, China Association for European Economic and Technical Cooperation (CEETC) and Donghao Lansheng Exhibition Group Co. The event was co-organised by Shanghai SME Development Coordination Office, China European Economic and Technical Cooperation Association and Donghao Lansheng Exhibition Group Company Limited, with special support from China Construction Bank Corporation Shanghai Branch. The event attracted more than 100 representatives of Chinese and European enterprises, experts, scholars and industry elites.
Rong Zhiqin, Director of Shanghai Municipal Service Enterprises Joint Conference Office, Deputy Director of Municipal Economy and Information Technology Commission and First Class Inspector, pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen Sino-European exchanges and mutual trust, and share the new development opportunities of the Belt and Road; it is necessary to accelerate the promotion of new mechanisms for international exchanges of enterprises in the city through the series of activities to bring the whole area to a new level; and it is necessary to practise the basic skills of internationalisation of enterprises and take the road of sustainable development. We are looking forward to a new chapter of cooperation between Chinese and European enterprises.
Simon Tani, former economic advisor of the Italian Prime Minister’s Office, Director of Expansion Affairs of the Italian Foundation for Future Cities, and Chairman of the Sino-Italian Innovation Centre, analysed the opportunities and challenges of SME cooperation under the new situation of globalisation, and said that Chinese and European enterprises should join hands to strengthen carbon management, promote the development of circular economy, share excellent practices and jointly tackle the global climate challenges.
In the keynote sharing session, Professor Li Haijiang, Director of Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, School of Engineering, Cardiff University, UK, Dai Junyang, Vice President of China Association for European Economic and Technical Cooperation, and Geng Bin, Deputy General Manager of Inclusive Finance Division, Shanghai Branch, Construction Bank of China, shared insights and fascinating insights on topics such as Artificial Intelligence and AI Application in Vertical Areas, Role and Challenges of China’s Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Global Supply Chain, and Inclusive Finance Innovation to Boost the Science and Technology Financial They conducted in-depth analyses and wonderful sharing on topics such as the high-quality development.
