Achieving sustainable development goals

On 23 April 2023, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) held a major workshop on global sustainable development at the International Environment House in Geneva, Switzerland. Diana Rizzolio, Coordinator of UNEP Geneva Environment Network, Tapiwa NXELE, Chemical Analysis Advisor for Knowledge and Risk at UNEP, and Kenneth DAVIS, Programme Officer of the UNEP Global Mercury Partnership, were the keynote speakers. A delegation of Shanghai SMEs, organised by Shanghai SME Development Service Centre and Shanghai Creative City Technology Development Co. Ltd, participated in the event and many leading companies, including Laofengxiang Company Limited and Shanghai Nuotian Water Treatment Technology Co.

The conference centred on an in-depth discussion of environmental policy, corporate social responsibility and exploring how sustainable development goals can be achieved through technological innovation and policy support. Participating companies shared their latest progress and achievements in reducing carbon footprints, improving resource efficiency and promoting environmental technology innovation.

Ltd. highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable materials and production processes in the jewellery manufacturing industry and detailed the company’s environmental initiatives at a recent conference. These include the adoption of low-impact manufacturing technologies and the full implementation of an environmental restoration programme to significantly reduce damage to the ecosystem and enhance corporate brand image and market competitiveness. The Company has formulated and improved energy saving and emission reduction systems and plans according to its own situation, and requires its subsidiaries to follow the relevant requirements of the ISO9000 quality management system to promote energy saving and emission reduction in depth.

The need for cross-sectoral cooperation was highlighted, covering technology sharing, financial flows and knowledge transfer, to accelerate the global transition to a low-carbon economy. Company representatives on site all expressed their desire to work with the United Nations Environment Programme and participate in its environmental programme standards to reduce environmental impacts at source. Through these wide-ranging discussions and cooperation, participating companies collectively demonstrated their determination to promote global environmental protection and green technology development, contributing to the realisation of a more sustainable global industrial ecosystem.
