The event aims to demonstrate to the world’s outstanding enterprises the great achievements made by Shanghai in recent years in the field of industry and economy, to further explore the potential of cooperation between Shanghai and foreign enterprises in key industries, and to attract more U.S.-funded enterprises to look to Shanghai for mutual benefits and win-win results.
Wang Weiren, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, and Huang Ping, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in New York, attended and delivered speeches. On behalf of the Mayor of New York City, Special Advisor to the Mayor of New York City and Director of Asian Affairs, Kieran Cheng, delivered a welcome speech. More than 100 U.S.-funded enterprises participated in the conference.
Shanghai is one of the cities with the highest level of openness to the outside world and the strongest economic development strength in China, and it is also an important area for promoting economic and trade cooperation between the United States and China. At present, there are about 5,000 U.S.-funded enterprises rooted in Shanghai and deeply cultivated in China, and a large number of enterprises, such as Tesla, General Motors, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, 3M, Dow, Merck, Honeywell, etc., have become important witnesses, participants and promoters of the economic and social development of China and Shanghai. Wang Weiren said that Shanghai will continue to deepen the high-level opening up to the outside world and promote high-quality development, and welcomed U.S.-funded enterprises to increase their investment and layout in Shanghai to achieve win-win cooperation.
Huang Ping said, China’s open door to the outside world more and more open, China’s market and the world market more closely linked. Shanghai is China’s economic, financial, trade and shipping centre, I sincerely hope that the U.S. business community to seize the opportunity to enhance the development of investment confidence in China, and China, and Shanghai to establish closer economic and trade links.
